Product Breakdown - Benchmark Field Flannel

The Benchmark - A Standard Setting Flannel

When we design a piece, we don't do so to check a box and put more apparel out into the world.

Every product we craft is purpose-driven, addressing a specific need in any outdoor enthusiast's wardrobe.

Equally important to the end product itself, though, are the production processes that precede it. We are committed to ethical production practices, ensuring that our products are not only high-quality but also produced with respect for people and the environment.

Standards matter to us, and we know this sentiment is echoed by our audience. They become especially important when not building on proven success, as with our Flex Canvas Collection, but venturing into an entirely new product category.

The Benchmark Field Flannel is our foray into men's tops. Unpretentious on the surface but supported by features, sourcing, and a feel you will remember. Here we'll dive into what makes this piece so unique, and it will always take us first to look at the fabric where it all starts.

Seawool Fabric - Recycled Polyester Made From Oyster Shells

It's no secret that behind many common apparel fabrics are harmful production practices. We don't want to contribute to this trend, and for us, sustainability isn't a goal to be reached but an ideal to pursue with each line and iteration.

One of the fastest ways to do this is to source fabrics from supply chains that meet our production and quality standards.

The Benchmark Field Flannel is made with Seawool , a new fabric that has us all kinds of excited. Made from discarded, repurposed oyster shells and recycled plastic bottles near Taiwan, it can be used as fibers, yarns, and insulation materials.

Seawool has properties like odor control and moisture management while retaining soft, yarn-like comfortability. However, being a natural fiber, it still has considerable durability and insulation capability, which makes it an ideal addition to our autumn collection.

Notable Features

While the Benchmark was designed for with our original, tailored fit that follows body lines in mind, there are some caveats here due to the material.

This piece will run large , as it will shrink slightly over time due to its natural fiber content with heavy, open weaves. We recommend ordering your normal size for an oversized fit that will adapt to your body over time or a sizedown one for a more fitted look.

For example, I'm a 5'11 and 180lbs~ humanoid male. For example, I’m a 5'11 and 180lbs~ humanoid male. Usually, I wear a large with most of our products. With this piece, I’d order a medium for a tighter fit or a large if I want to leave room for layers.

As always, we also embedded subtle features, storage options, and little details to make it more practical, comfortable, and likely to become your new favorite flannel.

Notable Features :

It takes us years to develop a new fabric and decide how best to put it into a design as part of our production practices.

The Benchmark Field Flannel is something new for us, but still built on our familiar bedrock of beliefs that apparel can and should be ethically sourced without sacrificing quality.

We hope this piece makes its way into homes all over the world and becomes a welcome addition to your wardrobe that enables you to pursue whatever the day calls for.
