Collection Breakdown - Highlands Sweater & Full Zip

Say Hello to Our New Highlands Collection

We're just weeks away from the official start of fall, but our new collection has arrived with everything you need for a dashing autumn wardrobe.

Looking great is one thing, but feeling good about the apparel you choose to purchase and wear is another. This collection marks some new fabrics for us, all with unique product sourcing that maximizes function while minimizing harm to the people and planet.

The Highlands Collection, composed of a lovely sweater and full zip, is our answer to the age-old outdoor enthusiast's question of, "What would the ideal mid-layer look and feel like?"

These piece are breathable but warm, comfortable and versatile, and made with the new, award-winning Polartec® Powerair™ fabric that fends off the cold without shedding micro-fibers throughout the lands we all love so much.

Let's dive in and see what makes these pieces something special and set be a center stage star of LIVSN lineup.

Highlands Sweater in Olive

A Powerful Combination of Recycled Polyester and Spandex

One of our brand cornerstones is designing pieces that last decades, not seasons, that ethically fulfill a common need in the outdoor apparel space.

When we came across the Powerair™ fabric and began to research and test it more deeply, we found that it aligned well with our fabric standards. The properties speak for themselves. It’s insulating yet breathable due to the highly efficient encapsulated air pockets design and is made for outdoor adventures

What elevated this fabric for us, though, was the “Shed Less” engineering behind it. Traditional fleecey mid-layers have a tendency to shed synthetic microfibers which pollute soil and water through wearing and laundering. Powerair™ was designed to minimize the shedding of loose fiber fragments (Up to 80% fewer fiber fragments are shed on average during home laundering, according to AATCC 212 – 2021, when compared to the baseline fabric).

We don't want to contribute to adding toxins to the planet, and we know our audience feels the same. While there's always more we can do to minimize impact, sourcing like this is a positive direction upon the path to which we are committed.

The Highlands Fit & Notable Features

With a fabric like this, we knew we wanted to make multiple versions so we could meet the diverse needs of our audience.

In terms of fit, the Highlands Sweater has a more relaxed cut, which makes for a looser fit through the body.

In contrast, the Highlands Full Zip has a more tailored fit that follows body lines without being too tight or loose.

We suggest starting with your regular top sizing on this piece. For example, I am a blossoming 5'11, 180~ male, and a large fits me exceptionally well (I think).

With the sweater and the full zip, we added features that offered subtle utility. We ended up with some high-quality, stylistically minimal pieces with a few hidden surprises we think will delight wearers for years to come.

The Highlands - A Midlayer Made for the Long Haul

We aim for total transparency when it comes to our products: from where the fabric is sourced, why it's designed, and what kind of support you can expect to receive post-purchase. We made the Highlands Collection because we genuinely believe it's a midlayer that meets the most common demands of outdoor enthusiasts while being produced with ethical practices and materials.

Meeting these standards matters to us, and whether it's a new color or entirely new design, we're always happy to chat about how and why we decided to produce it. We hope these efforts instill confidence that while we want to make apparel that enables fun adventures wherever, whenever, around the world, we continually aim to do it in a way that respects both the planet and the fine folk who live upon it.

As always, any questions, concerns, insights, or general musing are most welcome. Feel free to drop us a line below or your preferred digital means to let us know what you think about the Highlands collection or new line as a whole.
